Athletes Foot

Athletes foot is a fungal infection and 'Surprise, Surprise' it infects the foot. Athletes foot is rather contagious and can be caught in any public place where the foot isn't covered. Even the beach.

Symptoms are:

- Itching, stinging and burning between your toes especially the last two towards the right.
- Itching, stinging or burning on the soles of your feet.
- Blisters that have become itchy.
- Crackling and peeling of the skin.
- Dryness of the skin.

Nails that are thick, crumbly, ragged, discolored or pulling away from the nail bed.

However the problem with athletes foot is you could give it to someone in your family and they may spread it. However they may not always be aware that they have athletes foot because the symptoms don't occur on their feet. This is a major problem because they may take the bacterium to public places like swimming pools, saunas etc. and it will spread!

We need to treat your athlete foot as soon as we can. However, the problem is we need to be able to make sure that it isn't going to spread. You need to wash your bath and shower out once you have used it and make sure everything is hygienically clean. If it isn't clean then you may be infected again or your family could be. Also if you have pets then they can spread the bacteria!
